As crazy as it seems, yet another month has closed and we are now entering the of start August. Within my crazy busy month here are a few of the things I enjoyed along the way.
Milani Cosmetics has done it again. They recently came out with a new collection of matte lipsticks and I of course drove to the drugstore to pick up a few shades to add to my ever growing matte lipstick collection! I purchased these two babies in Matte Passion, and Matte Kiss. I have a few of milanis other lipsticks and I do love them but the only con from them was the smell that they gave out. I can't even explain the smell , but I didn't like it one bit. These new lipsticks have a wonderful almost cake smell to them, nothing like the other ones. The formula is smooth and bold without being drying.
Mind the gap: Recently while watching a YouTube on The Fashion Citizen's channel, I noticed a very hypnotizing varnish on the lovely ladies nails. Rimmel London's mind the gap is a beautiful shocking blue. This inexpensive nail polish comes in many shades at 1.50 at your local drugstore.
Mascaras: These three babies together create those big fluttery eyelashes I do love to sport. I Love Extreme crazy volume mascara by essence, Maybelline New York's Lash Sensational, and Maybelline New York's The Colossal Volume Express in waterproof. During the summer the heat is sweltering and waterproof products are key to keeping your makeup fresh without it sliding around and feeling greasy.
Lately since the weather has felt more like we are living on the sun rather then earth, wearing foundation hasn't been my biggest priority. I usually feel like I want to wipe my face off after 15 minutes of being outside. But there are those days when my skin is looking a little rough and I want a little help. I recently picked up L'Oréal paris infallible pro matte foundation after watching many reviews on it. I can't say I loved it at first I felt like I could see every pore on my face as if the product was just sitting on my skin, rather then blending in naturally. I then remembered I had a Korean brand aqua petit jelly bb cream and mixed the two together for my perfect shade and applied with a damp beauty blender sponge. Before I had used a kabuki brush. With this new application I was much happier with the finish. The formula is a medium coverage with the ability of going to a full coverage. I never do this but I've seen it done. It does dry to a lovely matte finish and makes you skin look flawless! Even after applying the matte foundation I do still tend to set it it with a matifying powder on my nose, chin and t-zone. During the hot summer days these are the places I tend to get the most oily and I counteract that with the Rimmel stay matte powder. It's around $3 and works pretty good. I do travel with it and touch up throughout the day just incase I need it's shine reducing powers.
Elf Lilac Petal highlighter : this little baby only cost $1, which is amazing for what you get and a little goes a long way. This rosy, lilac, and gold mixed combo adds a beautiful highlight to the cheeks, eyebrow bone, and even works as a cream color on the lids.
Nyx Micro brow pencil in Ash Brown is a new staple I have been using to shape and define my brows lately. I used to dread doing them because I felt I wasn't very good at this step. But with this new product it makes life simple. It's sleek design helps create more natural looking brow hairs. And the added spool at the other end is great for combing them into shape.
I've been into the 6o's mode vibe lately and feel like this look styles well after that era. I picked up this sweet number at my local H&M It's retro vibe instantly catching my eyes. I love to wear it with little black flats or my classy little lifted sandals that I got at a thrift store. Soon I will be uploading a video showing off some of my favorite 60's mod outfits, so keep an eye out for that!

My Story By Marilyn Monroe and Ben Hect. After watching the Lifetime movie on Marilyn I was inspired to read a few books on her life. First off most of you know lifetime movies are usually rather cheesy and not very high rated, but this one was a game changer and is definitely worth the watch! In my opinion I think it is award wining material. Not only does the women playing Marilyn resemble her, but she captures her spirit as well. A lot of people have low judgments of Marilyn and usually their reasoning has really no backing it. The critics usually know nothing about her life and her daily struggles other then she was a model and movie star. They throw out words like "slut" and "blonde without a brain". Most would be surprised at the fact that Marilyn was actually very intelligent. She tried her best to use what she knew to further the range of her movies, but at the time all the movie producer men didn't want anything to do with smart girls. They just wanted them sexy and dumb. Playing rolls as unintelligent, naïve women. Only there to draw the eye in and never allowing them to show all the talents they had to give. This book was a autobiography she wrote with Ben Hect before she died. Along with this book I read "The Secret life Of Marilyn Monroe" was based off the movie from Lifetime. Both equally eye opening! I highly suggest reading both for a deeper look into the mind of Marilyn Monroe. The Movie on Marilyn comes out August 18, 2015 and I defiantly will be picking up a copy!
Thought I would show you this blogging blooper. While trying to shoot a photo of my lovely heels, my cat decided he wanted to widen his portfolio and grace this photo with his presence.
