During the winter time it is time to switch up my skincare routine. I urge most people to do the same. The weather is a big part of how our skin react to things. In the summer, I tend to stick with lighter formulas since I get far more oily during the hot days. In the Winter If I use thicker more hydrating formulas. I noticed if I do not switch it up I become a dry flaky mess, and that doesn't just mean my face. My legs are the biggest culprit. Even though I try to keep them hidden in tights or pants, they get so dry that it feels like I have itchy poison ivy all over my legs! Which is hugely unpleasant especially when you are trying to sleep, just ask my boyfriend Derek. The poor thing has to sleep next to a groaning, itching, rolling around girlfriend! Todays post I would like the share with you some of my favorite skincare finds that help me get through the dry cold winter!
CLEANSERS
Lacura Hydrating Facial Cleanser is a product I found in my local grocery store. I had used their eye gel before and liked that so I figured I would test this out! This hydrating cream cleanser cleans my skin without leaving it feeling tight and dry.
Simple Cleansing Micellar Water: I've talked about beautiful product before. I uses this after I wash off my makeup to get what I didn't get with a cleanser. Its packed with skin loving ingredients and I thank this product for helping keep my skin clean and clear of acne!
Botanics Rosewater Toning Spritz: I recently added this toner and I love it to top of my skin and I even use it after I do my makeup for extra hydration. It has a beautiful rose scent that does fade on the skin after a while. So If you don't like rose I wouldn't worry about the scent too much! I love that this is 100% organic! Makes me feel good that I am putting safe ingredients on my skin.
Once or twice a week I will use a facial scrub to help rid my face of dead skin. I use Simple's smoothing Facial Scrub. It is also full of good soothing ingredients that are not harsh and abrasive to the skin.
MOISTURIZE
I tend to mix moisturizer and mix it up a lot. A few I have been trying out are Clinique's Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion . I bought the sample( $5.00 at Sephora) to test it out. I like it so far, enough to add it to my routine. I also have been using Tucker Ashley Perfecting Moisturizer. I received this in my November Ipsy bag. I love that it is unscented and works well with my skin! I don't have this pictured because I ran out and haven't yet to repurchase it but it is one of my favorite drugstore moisturizers! Garnier Moisture Rescue Gel Cream for dry skin(pink version) and Garnier Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel Cream( green version). Both of these feel so cool and refreshing of my skin!
L'Oreal Age Perfect Cell Renewal Golden Serum: I am not sure how I managed to get this usually $19 serum for only $6.99 but I will not complain that's for sure! This stuff is magic in a bottle. When applied to skin it gives a glow and a refreshing feeling. Not only does it smell amazing but it looks beautiful when pumped onto your fingertips!
MASKS
I love face masks. They are a wonderful gift to the face. A sheet of moisturizing beauty. Scary to look at in the mirror when applied but that doesn't matter too much when you are having a pamper session. I have tried many different kinds and I haven't found one I didn't like. It feels like a cold dream upon my face that I can relax to in the bath or in my room! You can buy face mask just about anywhere these days. Walmart, Target, Sephora, Dollar stores, and Forever21! You name it, its there! If you've never experienced one I suggest you pick one up! They are a sweet little treat after a stressful day!
BODY
Like I said earlier I can be a pain to sleep with if I am at all itchy. So to eliminate the dryness upon my body I use Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer in Monoi Oil. You can use this anytime of the day but when skin is at its best its right after a shower/bath. This product is blended with oil so it adds that little bit extra in the moisturizer department.
I also think its a good idea to use a body scrub to clean off the dead skin on your body that could later irritate your skin. I use one that my darling friend Kody made. It is a coffee scrub that smells amazing and feels amazing! If I am not using a hand made one, I am using a Tree Hut Shea Sugar Body Scrub. I love the Coconut Lime one and the Almond & Honey ones. They also make matching body butters that I also do adore!
